Previous affiliations and history.
Umi was initially planned as Cloter's duet partner in 2019, after being inspired by an obscure producer's song known as "Jellyfish" or "Kurage." Her design is inspired by other vocal synth mascots such as Otomachi Una, Tohoku Kiritan, and, more recently, Tsuina-Chan.
In early 2023, a proposal arose to include Umi along with Cloter in the VoiceFace, the idea arose again later that year, and the decision was made to distribute them for the 2024 virtual singer line-up.
After putting together and recording the databases, with slight changes to character appearance and personality, the publication for their VoiceFace databases was announced on May 3rd, 2024, a day after their fifth UTAU anniversary.
Personality and bio.
Umi is a curious, confident, and sweet girl with a heart of gold who doesn't shy away from innocent mischief and chaotic fun once in a while. Her adoptive father, Cloter, is often at the brunt of her chaos.
She is the reincarnation of a once world-renowned pop star. She has always been drawn to the art of music, and she is determined to rediscover her true self, even if she cannot recall the memories of her past life.
She is said to be a mutated physalia physalis (portuguese man o'war) or jellyfish, either or.
While Umi has a canon personality and backstory, it can be discarded for user's personal preferences. Please keep familial dynamics in consideration when writing.

- Cloter - Adoptive father
Umi and Cloter found each other in purgatory, and due to the circumstances of their deaths, a familial bond formed while finding comfort in each other's presence. When they were given physical bodies that manifested the appearance of their ghosts to have a second chance at life, Cloter adopted Umi as his daughter.
The two now live together and keep each other entertained. Cloter encourages Umi's passions for the arts and music while she keeps her father grounded and busy with her chaos and curiosity.
