Previous affiliations and history.

THANATOS' inspiration came from WolfieTheFox's horror illustration "The Grudge" on DeviantArt, with concept art depicting a gender-bent version of Zaesis (Young Springy) based on the illustration. The decision to make THANATOS a more original character came from the notion of creating a hypothetical biological sister for Springy Cogs, based on the gender-bent Zaesis artwork as a starting point. Her name was taken from the song "Isolation = THANATOS."

Her outfit was created to be a more elegant take of Zaesis' uniform, with long flowing bows and a pointed neckerchief with diamond-shaped golden pieces on the ends inspired by a nun's habit, as well as an accompanying bow in the middle and a flared collar resembling a vampire's. The cool colour palette conveys mystery and grace in contrast to Zaesis's fierce, dark, yet warm colour scheme.

Originally, she was going to have a long tarnished blue cloak she could hide her face with, however this idea was scrapped as it did not convey the right feel for THANATOS.

She had unconscious inspiration from characters like A.B.A. from Guilty Gear, specifically the Strive design, and Rose Quartz from Steven Universe & Hitori Gotou from Bocchi the rock in terms of personality.

Personality and bio

THANATOS, the personification of death. She was sent to live on earth with a special spell book in hand within a small superstitious village that ran her out after finding out her true purpose, and her spell book became lost because of this. She is terrified of humans and spends the majority of her days in solitude, watching the beings around her, intrigued but saddened by the cycles of life and death due to being cursed with immortality because of her status as a god.

THANATOS has a very complex thought process and is frequently conflicted on an array of problems due to her nature. She frequently struggles to comprehend her own feelings, which leads her to becoming jaded, perplexed, and upset. Her social skills are poor due to the fact that she is terrified to interact with others and believes that saying the wrong thing or acting in a way that would be deemed as abnormal would put her in harm's way.

As of modern times, THANATOs’s current problem is her spell book that she lost long ago, she is unsure of why, but she has an inescapable urge to be reunited with it again, and is actively seeking it out by any means necessary.

In the past, when she was a child, her carers found wings growing from her back, and binded them to her body so they appeared flat, this caused them to become deformed and unable to grow.

She has the power to shapeshift in small amounts, mostly the appearance of her face, however, she chooses not to.
