Mion often gets preoccupied with her "work now, play later" mentality. If something needs to be done, you can bet she won't hesitate to get started instead of procrastinating. Though she sounds like a thorn in the side, Mion is very caring and big-sister-like, despite her odd ways of showing it. She is a vocalist and manager of a Pastel-themed Rock band called "FreakPie", and is also dating her bandmate Taro Macounne. Even though their relationship is common knowledge, Mion still gets flustered when others talk about it nonchalantly.

Her name "マクーン音" is an amalgamation of different things, being Macoun, a variety of Apple, and "ne" meaning "sound", making his name a kind of play-on-words to resemble Macne Nana's VOCALOID iteration, マクネ. "Mion" is taken from Mion Sonozaki, a character in Higurashi no Naku Koro ni. Another reference to this is Mion's supposed "twin", but it's just a rumor.

Mion is based on the iPhone 11 Pro Silicone Case, in the color "Clementine", whereas Shion is the color "Pomegranate".
