Ayumi is a humanoid robot, she was created by a large company specializing in robots. She is simple minded, naive, and has a limited understanding of what happens to her. However, she can express a large range of emotions even though she mostly appears to be happy. There was apparently an "update" disk created for her, but little is known about what the update is supposed to do to her.

She was bought by an old lady, whom she refers to as "Mom." Her owner is deceased, and she now shares a house with the woman's two adopted children.
